Julian Rowe

Julian Rowe is an English-language ballad music project by Lakeside Homestay Studio, creating original songs inspired by Vietnamese poetry, literature and culture.

The project brings the emotions, imagery and poetic spirit of Vietnamese literature into a new musical space through contemporary English ballads. Rather than translating poems word for word, Julian Rowe reimagines their stories, atmosphere and emotional core as original English-language songs written for modern listeners.

Julian Rowe focuses on English Ballad, Acoustic Ballad, Piano Ballad, Singer-Songwriter and Cinematic Ballad, with an intimate male vocal style and arrangements built around acoustic guitar, piano and cinematic textures.

Love, longing, memory, loneliness, separation, moonlight, rivers, seasons and the passage of time are recurring themes throughout the project. These themes are deeply connected to the emotional world of Vietnamese poetry and form the foundation for many of Julian Rowe's songs.

Inspired by Vietnamese Poetry and Literature

A major source of inspiration for Julian Rowe comes from classic Vietnamese poets and writers, including Hàn Mặc Tử, Tản Đà, Xuân Diệu, Nguyễn Bính and other important voices of Vietnamese literature.

Each song begins with the spirit, story or emotional world of a Vietnamese poem or literary work, but develops into an independent English-language composition with its own lyrics, melody and musical identity.

The goal is not simply to reproduce Vietnamese poetry in another language, but to create a new musical interpretation that preserves its emotional depth while allowing international listeners to experience the beauty of Vietnamese literature through contemporary music.
